  14. This patch adds several enhancements to the Finder of Mac OS 8.6:
  15.  
  16. •Command Keys
  17.  
  18.    T for Trash
  19.    B for Restart
  20.    0 (zero) for Shutdown
  21.    = for About this Computer
  22.  
  23. •Assigns desired Finder memory which can be chosen with a Pop Up menu.
  24.  
  25. •A menu item "Quit Finder" under the Special menu for all those who like 
  26. to quit the Finder to make more RAM available or for people like me, who constantly work on 
  27. the Finder to improve it's abilities...
  28.  
  29. •For PowerBooks a Sleep Command key:
  30.   ` for Sleep 
  31.   (works also with Sleep complient Macs like Mactell, PM4400 and  many others.)

  33. •In the About this Computer you will get a new About Picture, 3D style.

  35. Installing FinderPatch:
  36.

  38. Please note that your Finder cannot be locked in order to apply the FinderPatch.
  39. To check if your Finder is locked or not, select the Finder by clicking on the icon once.  Choose "Get Info" from the "File" menu, and when the info window appears, check the lower left-hand corner where it has the "Locked" checkbox. If it is checked, then your Finder is locked, and a little lock icon appears in the lower left-hand corner of the Finder's icon.  To unlock it, simply uncheck the "Locked" checkbox in the info window and close the window.  There should not be a lock icon on the Finder icon anymore.

  42. •Your System Folder should contain a Finder.
  43.  
  44. •Copy the Finder onto the Desktop. 
  45.   (Use command+option to do this.) The Finder should carry the original name, e.g. "Finder",  and NOT  "Finder copy".

  47. •Apply the FinderPatch v1.3.2
  48.  
  49. •Create a new Folder on the Desktop. Name this Folder "Finder BackUp".
  50.   Now move the old Finder from your System Folder into the newly created folder on the Desktop.

  52. •Now move the Patched Finder from the Desktop into your System Folder.
  53.  
  54. •Now double click the System Folder to open it's window and then close it.
  55.   This tells the Mac to use this one as your new System Folder. (Actually the old one that you have used before.)

  57. •You should have the System Folder Icon on the System Folder (Mac Face)

  59. •Restart and everything will work.

  83.     Apple Menu Help Icon and gets rid of the space consuming "HELP" menu text.
